Plus, there’s a brand new interview! Here are some highlights:

On her Latina inspiration:
“I was really moved watching ‘West Side Story’ as a young girl and seeing Puerto Ricans star in it. Even though it wasn’t the best depiction of us, they still have the passion and love that I relate to – not to mention the singing and dancing! Rita Moreno became a hero to me.”

On her body’s insecurities:
“Early on, my family really made me love who I was and what I looked like. My body was nothing out of the ordinary in my neighborhood. When I first started on television [as a Fly Girl on ‘In Living Color’], people, and even my own manager at the time, would tell me I had to make all of these changes. But you have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or my shape or who I am, you’re the one with the problem!’ And when you can really believe that, all of a sudden other people start believing too.”

On being Latina:
“I love the people that I grew up in, the strength and passion and the heart that we bring to things and then the way I was raised – the intense love we demonstrate.”

On conquering stage fright:
“One day somebody told me I had to perform in front of 35,000 people on the set of ‘Selena.’ I didn’t know how to do it. I just said to myself: Don’t think about it. You can do this and you’ll be great. I walked out onto the stage. And then I did. I’ve been following that rule ever since.”

The issue will hit newsstands on Oct. 29, so make sure you pick up a copy!

Idol auditions will be wrapping up soon, with just a couple of cities to go. Then, it’s time for the infamous Hollywood Week. Before we know it, it will be 2014 and time for the live shows!

The Fosters Renewed for Season 2!

ABC Family announced the network has green-lit a second season of its hit original drama series, “The Fosters,” which is exec-produced by Jennifer Lopez. The order came as production continues on the first season of the series, which premieres new episodes in January, 2014. You may recall that back in July, the show’s first season was extended.

“’The Fosters’ has demonstrated its ability to build an audience, and the creative team’s compelling storytelling assures us that there will be more growth in upcoming seasons,” said Kate Juergens, Chief Creative Officer and Executive Vice President, Programming, ABC Family. “The show’s dynamic cast and groundbreaking storylines resonate with our core viewers and leave them wanting more.”

“The Fosters” ranked as the #1 new cable TV series of the summer in Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34, gaining momentum each week heading into the season finale, which set series highs in Total Viewers and across target 18-34, 18-49 and 12-34 demos. Of all current ABC Family original series, “The Fosters” is the network’s #2 series in target demos, behind only “Pretty Little Liars.”

Back in August, the show won a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Show and just last week, Jennifer was honored with the Ally for Equality Award by the Human Rights Campaign, in part because of her involvement with the show.

Renewing before the second half of the season airs is a great vote of confidence for the show! Congrats to Jennifer, the cast, and crew!!
