Music Update

Right before his performance at the iHeartRadio Festival, Chris Brown gave a little interview. The interviewer asked him about hitting the studio with Jennifer. Chris revealed that he wrote two songs for JLo’s upcoming album called ‘Same Girl’ and ‘Emotions’. You can watch the interview below:

A few days ago producer Steve Mostyn tweeted the following:

We can’t wait to hear all the new music Jenn has been prepping in the studio for us the last few months, which seems to be turning out amazing!

Jennifer Lopez Receives The People’s Icon Award

On Sunday, Jennifer Lopez picked up The People’s Icon Award at the E! People’s Choice Awards! She was presented with the honor by Armie Hammer, her co-star in the upcoming movie, Shotgun Wedding.

Before her acceptance speech, Jennifer was surprised with video messages from Renee Zellweger, Nicole Kidman and her kids, Emme and Max! I loved Jennifer’s speech and thought it was very moving. Watch below:

Man, 2020 was no joke right? I mean before 2020 we were obsessing about winning this award or getting nominated for that award or we were caught up in who sold the most records or box office opening or crazy stuff like did we get the latest drop before anybody else. But not this year. This year was the great leveler.

It showed us what mattered, what didn’t. And for me, reinforced what mattered most: People, all of us, together. Helping each other, loving each other, being kind to each other. And the importance of that connection, that human touch. I realized that’s what I strive for in everything I do. To reach people, to touch people. I believe that’s what we all want, those shared experiences to know that we’re not in this alone. Your belief and your faith in me motivates me to keep going and sometimes when I’m tired or beaten down, like a lot of us have been this year, it’s my family, friends, my babies and my fans, you guys, who have lifted me up when I couldn’t lift myself. I am so grateful to have you, to have that in my life.

You know I approach my career the same way I approach my life. I lead with life, I feel with my heart and I always try to speak truth in telling stories, singing songs. I do so with the purpose of bringing a little happiness, creating beauty and inspiring others to do the same. From being a little girl in the Bronx, New York, and having the privilege of performing on some of the biggest stages in the world, and even at the Super Bowl earlier this year, that was a biggie! I have seen and learned a lot and I am still learning. I want to thank you and tell you how much I appreciate you for letting me do that in front of you for all of these years.

As a Latina and as a woman, we have to work twice as hard to get the opportunities, sometimes my big dreams and my ambitions, it made the people around me nervous. ‘You can’t be an actress. You’re an actress, what you want to sing? You’re an artist, you won’t be taken seriously as a businesswoman.’ The more that they said I couldn’t, the more I knew that I had to. So now here I stand so very grateful knowing that the true measure of my success is not in box office numbers or records sold, but from the love that I feel from all of you.

The true measure is inspiring girls in all ages and all colors, from all over the world, to know you can do whatever want, as many things as you want and to be proud of who you are no matter where you come from. I want them to know your dreams are limited only by your imagination, determination and their willingness to never give up. If I have touched you or them in any small way, then this is the greatest award I could ever receive. I accept this award with great humility and gratitude, and hope we can begin to heal as a country and stand together united and proud, and in harmony.

(Spanish translation) And to my Latin people, wherever I am and no matter where I go, I always have you in my heart. It is a true honor to represent Latinos everywhere, with all my heart and all my love. Thank you. I love you very much. And remember, life is a tango and you have to keep dancing, always.

Thank you so much, I love you guys so much. Thank you for this.

After the show:

‘On The 6’ Turns 20!

JLo’s ‘On The 6’ was released 20 years ago today! 20 years ago, I saw the “If You Had My Love” music video and INSTANTLY became a JLover! Jennifer has inspired me every single day since. Watching her pursue her goals, fight for her worth, strive to always be the best, and get back up when she’s been knocked down has helped me do the same in my own life. I can’t overstate what an impact she’s had on my life all these years and I’m so proud to call myself a JLover forever!

Billboard interviewed Jennifer and key collaborators Tommy Mottola, Rodney Jerkins, Benny Medina and Cory Rooney about the album and that period of time. Here’s a short excerpt:

When former Fly Girl Jennifer Lopez decided she wanted to pursue a proper music career, she was just coming off her starring role as Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in the 1997 musical biopic Selena. But she faced plenty of skeptics — even after landing a record deal with Sony. “She wasn’t hearing it, though,” says longtime manager Benny Medina. “It would be like, wait a minute, don’t you understand? This is a girl that popped off In Living Color to become Selena — why would you ever second guess she couldn’t step out there and be J.Lo?”

Jennifer also marked the occasion on Instagram!

JLo For GUESS Jeans!

Jennifer Lopez is the face of the GUESS Jeans Spring 2018 advertising campaign!

“When I got the call from Paul Marciano asking me to become the new GUESS Girl, I was thrilled and excited to be a part of such an iconic brand that I have loved since I was a teenager,” said Jennifer in a press release. “When I look back at early GUESS campaigns through the years, you see all of these beautiful models and iconic images that Paul has created. It is a tremendous compliment to have been selected for GUESS’ Spring 2018 campaign.”

The campaign, art directed by Paul Marciano, Co-Founder of GUESS?, Inc., and shot by fashion photographer Tatiana Gerusova draws inspiration from Lopez’s life as a performer in Vegas and actress in Hollywood. Shot in an elegant villa, the images evoke classic GUESS campaigns with influences of Jennifer’s aesthetic and personal style.

“Jennifer Lopez is a GUESS Girl’s dream! She is an accomplished artist, she is iconic, and sensual,” says Paul Marciano. “Jennifer’s impact and influence continues to grow and this campaign celebrates the notion that women get more beautiful and talented as they gain life experience. Her beauty and class shine through this campaign and I am so excited Jennifer accepted to be our new GUESS Girl and at the same time ‘Femme Fatale’ of Marciano.”
