Hello JLOVER!S
As you guys might know, I had the chance and the privilege to be on the set of JLO’s music video #LiveItUp which was filmed in Miami, FL a couple of weeks ago. Production asked me not leak details, so I couldn’t give any details until the video was actually released. So here are some details of what actually happened behind the scenes from day 2 of Live It Up.
Getting the “Job”
Some of you guys must be wondering how I actually ended up being an extra on the video… It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be, because all I needed to do was to send photos and personal information to the casting agency. When I emailed them with my information they replied back saying that they had over a thousand submissions, so to be patient. Few days after that, JLO was already filming the video and I had no response from the casting agency. Then around 2 A.M on day 2, I received an email to confirm if I was available for day 2 shooting of the video and of course I replied back with a big.. YES!
Hours before
Day 2 had two locations; one in Fort Lauderdale beach and the other on a set somewhere in Miami Beach. Production asked me to be at the Miami Beach location at 4 P.M. meaning that I only had a couple of hours left to prepare and do some shopping. When I arrived to the set I met a couple of extras that were on Day 1 that were part for some scenes inside a limousine (which never made it on the video). Shooting hours were from 5-10 but we actually started shooting the video around 10:45P.M to 2:45A.M. Production was behind schedule since they were shooting the Kohl’s commercial and Entertainment Tonight was doing interviews (plus the shooting at the beach didn’t help at all).
It’s show time!
After a long 6 hour wait the time finally arrived. The “Rave party” was about to start, but Jennifer was still getting ready. The stage was full of life as production stared testing all the laser lights while the dancers were doing some last minute rehearsals with the help of Beau Casper and J.R. I was really surprised how involved Beau was on the video from the choreography to set, making sure everything was O.K. Around 20 minutes later, JLO finally arrived on the set. She was dressed in white and said a quick “Hello” to all the extras present. Immediately, Live It Up was playing; JLO started dancing and I was just focused on my jumping. I was in the front row, so that jumping had to be perfect! We had small breaks from scene to scene and I used that time to make eye contact with Jenn and it worked! She recognized me from the M&G in Miami and Puerto Rico where the Dance Again Tour Fan Memories Book was delivered along with Erika and BBer Rubbee. Now that she knew who I was, she was making eye contact with me more and more and smiling when I was going crazy. It felt like she was doing a free concert and I was in the V.I.P section.
But, of course, nothing is perfect all the time. One of the dancers (the guy who was crying in the video while JLO was at the fashion show) actually got hit in the eye with one of the flashing lights they use while performing and started bleeding like crazy. Production stopped for about 20 minutes and Jenn was really worried. She stood by his side the whole time until he got back on stage. Then another incident- one of the dancer’s pants ripped off, but they managed to hide it. Jenn’s face was priceless when it happened!
The rave party scene was about to be over and everyone had to leave the room, but before that Jennifer asked the extras if we were tired and I told her “Nah…we’re living it up”, and she replied “I’m not living it up..I’ve been up since 6 AM…I’m tired”. It was so funny how she said it.
By 2 AM all the extras were asked to leave, but I managed to stay. Jennifer had the last scene which was the one on the swing with the almost see-through costume. She looked so beautiful. Her face was glowing, her body was smoking hot and I was dreaming. When she finished the scene we shared a few minutes along with a pic. I had the chance to say hello to everyone on her team and they all wanted me to say how much they appreciate us for always being there for Jennifer in good and bad times. Jennifer wanted me to give a huge thank you filled with hugs and kisses to BBJLO.
That’s a wrap everyone. It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. I’m so happy I had the chance to represent BBJLO on the set, so they know we are everywhere standing by JLO’s side.
