JLo slayage at the BBMAs: performances and Icon Award

It was Jennifer Lopez night during the annual Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas yesterday! The Latin powerhouse first strutted the red carpet in a red Donna Karan dress and opened the award show with her favorite collaborator Pitbull, performing their World Cup song ‘We Are One (Ole Ola)’ for the very first time, with Claudia Leitte. Jenn wore a sparkly golden outfit.

Ricky Martin and Iggy Azalea introduced triple threat JLo. Before she hit the stage an intro video played mentioning her accomplishments and celebs like Britney Spears, Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ryan Seacrest, Cameron Diaz and others raving about her. After that Jennifer took the stage herself to perform ‘First Love’ for the very first time. She showed the world what a power house she is on stage and amazed them with amazing live vocals. Right after the performance Jennifer got honored with the Icon Award for all her accomplishments in the industry with her being the first female to receive the award and the 4th artist overall.

Jennifer touched the hearts of many with her emotional speech thanking us, her fans, friends, family, business partners and loved ones. She has always been our icon but now she can add this title officially to her already impressive list of accomplishments. We all witnessed entertainment history! Our very own Heather was there in person so check back here for her recap of the night.

Jennifer rocks Powerhouse

Jennifer kicked off her First Love/A.K.A. promo tour in Anaheim, California on Saturday. The event was hosted by LA’s urban radio station Power 106. For the occasion Jennifer dressed up urban and street, for the mainly urban crowd.

JLo opened her set with the infectious Get Right. She also did classics Jenny From The Block, a medley of the I’m Real and Ain’t It Funny remixes and closed her set with I Luh Ya Papi. She even did a little preview of the hyped track Big Booty.

Watch: JLo & Pitbull Perform & JLo Accepts Worldwide Icon Award!

Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull made a splash – literally – at the Premios Juventud Awards in Miami earlier tonight! The duo performed their hits On The Floor, Dance Again, and Live it Up (and Don’t Stop The Party) in a nearly 7-minute long performance. A lucky group of BBers were lucky enough to attend the show and watch it live! Here is Yoan’s video from the show:

You can watch the official performance video at the bottom of this post.

After Jennifer dried off and glammed up again, she picked up her Worldwide Icon Award:

She became very emotional. but despite that she delivered a great speech. I’ve translated what she said because I found it very inspiring!

When I look at all those images and all of your beautiful faces, I feel very lucky to be here tonight. What I’ve always wanted to do with my life is create, sing, dance, act, entertain, and be a good person. I love what I do. I am an artist.

I know that being a role model for my community means being responsible for my actions. I’m a human being, and of course, I make mistakes. But I promise that when I fall, I always get back up. When I’m wrong, I learn my lesson and am ready to face new challenges. To me, that is living your best life – doing your best work while being the best person you can be.

Hopefully, along the way, you can make your family and community proud. If I’ve inspired you or made your life more enjoyable, or helped you dream and realize that you can achieve those dreams, then it was all worth it. I receive this award with a lot of humility and I am very thankful. Thank you for this special award. I love you all very much!

After picking up her award, Jennifer tweeted:

And, just moments ago, Jennifer won the Best Actress/Actress Who Steals The Spotlight award!

Here are tons of pics from the show and her pre-birthday celebration, thanks to our girl, Adriana!
