My Top 10 JLo Moments of 2018!

It’s hard to believe that 2018 is wrapping up already! This was a huge year for Jennifer Lopez. As always, I like to take some time at the end of the year to count down some of my favorite moments of the year. Jennifer had a huge variety of projects and also wrapped up a few major projects, freeing up some time for new things in 2019. But before we jump into the new year, here are my top 10 JLo Moments of 2018 (in no particular order)!

Second Act

Second Act, Jennifer’s first theatrical release since 2015, was released on December 21. I LOVED the movie. It was funny, sweet and very empowering! I really identified with the idea that “the only thing stopping you is you”. It might sound silly, but seeing it and watching countless interviews where Jennifer spoke about the message of empowerment in the film and what it meant to her, actually empowered me to know my worth, be bold and accomplish something very important, but also very difficult. So thank you Jennifer and everyone involved! <3

Limitless Music Video

Jennifer premiered Limitless, the official Second Act single, at the AMAs in October and the music video was released in December to support the theatrical release. The female empowerment themed video marks Jennifer’s directorial debut and also features her daughter, Emme! I love the video concept and the overall message of “I am worth something. I have value. I am equal. I am limitless.” As a fan since 1999 when she released “If You Had My Love”, I’m incredibly proud of Jennifer for getting to this point in her very accomplished career and I can’t wait to see what she directs next.

Shades of Blue

After 3 seasons on NBC,  Shades of Blue wrapped up this past Summer. I loved the show and especially Jennifer’s performance as Harlee, so I was sad to see it end. At the time, Jennifer told EW, “Where she winds up is so tragically, poetically Harlee. It’s perfect. This is where it needs to be, and this is the end of that journey. Whether she’ll come back or not for some special or for another season, who knows, but for right now this is what happens for her. It’s a tragic ending, but really poetic and beautiful.” If you aren’t caught up, stream all three seasons for free on NBC.com!

VMA Vanguard Award

Jennifer was the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year! She is the first Latin artist to be honored with the award. She put together an epic 10-minute performance for the show. The performance was amazing, covering the majority of her biggest hits. Jennifer also had a beautiful acceptance speech, giving a heartfelt thanks to her fans. Again, as a long-time fan, this moment was a long time coming and made me so proud to be a JLover!

Time’s 100 Most Influential

Another spectacular accomplishment this year was when Jennifer was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential people in April. Jennifer was featured on the cover of the magazine and the accompanying article was written by Kerry Washington. Jennifer was later honored at the TIME Gala and showed off a couple of of her many talents by treating the other honorees to a performance!

All I Have Wraps Up

In September, Jennifer wrapped up her Las Vegas residency, All I Have, after 120 shows. The critically acclaimed residency was a huge hit, grossing more than $100 million with 487,303 tickets sold during the 3-year run. All I Have is the highest grossing Las Vegas residency by a Latin artist and the 6th highest grossing of all time! I was lucky enough to be able to fly to Las Vegas on two separate occasions to see the show a total of 3 times! Both were such wonderful experiences. There’s nothing quite like watching Jennifer perform live on stage. She radiates such joy when she performs and I love watching her. Will Jennifer ever head back to Vegas? Time will tell!

Inglot Collaboration

In April, Jennifer announced that she was partnering with Inglot Cosmetics to create a new limited edition cosmetic collection! At the time, Jennifer said “It is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. A makeup line seemed like a natural progression since people are always asking about the products I use and how I get the glow to my skin.” Finally we all get a chance to try to replicate that JLo Glow! New products continue to be released as part of the collection, including the recently released Holiday Set. Next up, a skin care line in 2019!

Super Saturday Night Performance

Jennifer put on a huge new show in Minneapolis ahead of the Super Bowl in February. Not only did she debut her latest single at the time, US, but she performed a tribute to Prince, Aretha Franklin’s Respect, and a ton of her hits. The show streamed and aired live and was later packaged as a concert and behind the scenes special on DirecTV’s Audience Network. If you missed it, you can stream it on the DirecTVNOW app. Jennifer also partnered with AT&T to raise money for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.

World of Dance: Season 2

I always love the opportunity to watch Jennifer on my TV screen every week! World of Dance aired its second season on NBC this past Summer. It was such a success in Season 1 that the show grew from 10 episodes to 16! It was also renewed for Season 3 before Season 2 aired. Somehow, the dancers were even better this year. I won’t spoil the finalists and eventual winner in case you haven’t seen it yet, but it was quite a showdown! If you did miss it, you can stream it for free on NBC.com. If you’re all caught up, we don’t have to wait much longer for Season 3, because it premieres on February 26!

The Year of Music

Jennifer released a whopping 9 songs this year! There was a little something for everyone this year. Here’s a list of releases: Us, Se Acabo El Amor with Yandel and Abraham Mateo, El Anillo, El Anillo Remix feat OzunaPut Your Lovin’ Where Your Mouth Is (Poo Bear), Dinero, Te Guste with Bad Bunny, Limitless, and Te Bote 2! Six of the nine songs also have accompanying music videos, so music JLovers were very spoiled this year!

That’s a wrap on 2018! Jennifer has a lot coming up in 2019. World of Dance premieres in February, she recently told The Wing that she will be releasing a skincare line and will tour the US in June and July. She will also be filming Hustlers around March and another movie in August. I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes as I approach my 20th year as a JLover!

Top 10 JLo Moments of 2016!

2016 was a huge year for Jennifer! I’m not quite sure how she managed to fit so many projects in this year, but her tireless work ethic is one of the many reasons I love and admire her!

As in years past, I’ve put together a list of my top 10 JLo moments of the year! It’s tough to narrow down my favorite moments of the year, but here they are in chronological order:

Shades of Blue
In January, Jennifer’s television show, Shades of Blue, premiered on NBC! The series and the cast were critically applauded by several prominent publications, including The New York Times, Washington Post, and Entertainment Weekly.

For several months, we had Jennifer on TV three times a week between Shades and American Idol, which made things even more exciting. The show and Jennifer were nominated for Teen Choice Awards, and Jennifer is also up for a People’s Choice Award for her work on the show! Season 2 premieres on March 5, so mark your calendars!

All I Have
In January, Jennifer premiered her Las Vegas residency, All I Have! The show has been hugely successful, with widespread critical acclaim and sold out shows. I saw the show in February and LOVED it! All I Have regularly topped the Billboard Boxscores chart and broke a Planet Hollywood sales record. With only 12 shows, All I Have also landed at #17 on Billboard’s Top 25 Boxscores of 2016. The show also won the Best of Vegas Award for “Best Production Show” by readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The show has been so successful that they’ve added dates through 2017! You have 36 shows to choose from in 2017, so don’t miss out. Get your tickets at JLoVegas.com.

Jennifer Lopez: The Jess Cagle Interview
In March, Jennifer sat down with Jess Cagle, PEOPLE & EW’s editorial director, for an in-depth discussion about her life, work and legacy. This was my favorite interview of the year, so take some time to settle in and watch.

American Idol Finale
It was the end of an era- after 15 seasons (5 of which included Jennifer!), American Idol wrapped up with a grand finale that also included a special JLo performance! I loved watching Jennifer laugh and cry with the contestants each year, all while playing with different styles and looks. I’m definitely going to miss it in 2017!

Ain’t Your Mama
As I mentioned above, Jennifer took advantage of the American Idol finale and performed a new single, Ain’t Your Mama! The music video has over 370 million views on Youtube/Vevo and performed incredibly well in Europe. The single was certified Diamond in Poland, 3X Platinum in Spain, Platinum in Germany, France, and Italy, and Gold in Austria and Denmark.

Carpool Karaoke
In March, Jennifer carpooled with the Late Late Show’s James Corden and created a viral sensation. Their hilariously entertaining carpool karaoke video has over 55 million views and is one of the most-watched videos on the Late Late Show’s channel. If you didn’t catch it then, you should definitely watch it now!

Love Make The World Go Round
In July, Jennifer teamed up with Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Broadway’s Hamilton, for a new charity single called Love Make the World Go Round. The empowering single is my favorite song she released this year and it debuted at #9 on Billboard’s Digital Songs char! Jennifer, Lin-Manuel and Epic Records donated 100% of their proceeds from each U.S. download sale on iTunes from July 8, 2016 to October 5, 2016 to the Hispanic Federation for the Somos Orlando Fund, to benefit those affected by the Pulse shooting in Orlando. Caesars Entertainment also donated $50,000 in honor or Caesars Palace’s 50th Anniversary and Jennifer’s charitable efforts.

Bye Bye Birdie Announcement
In October, NBC announced that Jennifer would be headlining their 2017 musical, Bye Bye Birdie Live! I’ve wanted Jennifer to tackle a Broadway musical for years, and performing a live musical on NBC is the perfect way to merge all of her talents on a huge platform! Rosie is the perfect role to show off her acting, singing, and dancing talents, and the role also has a relevant social message.

Olividame Y Pega La Vuelta
In November, Jennifer Lopez surprised the audience at the Latin Grammys by joining Marc Anthony on stage to perform a new single, Olvidame Y Pega La Vuelta. The duet received tons of attention and the single debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Song Sales chart! Jennifer also released a Tropical version which recently hit #1 on the Tropical airplay chart!

On The Floor Crosses Billion-View Mark
This year, Jennifer joined Youtube’s Billion Club, with On The Floor! As of today, On The Floor has 1,010,622,513 views on Youtube. Jennifer is one of just thirty-two other artists to reach that incredible milestone.

That wraps up 2016! Thank you to all of our visitors and followers for your support this year! It appears that 2017 will be just as busy as 2016, with season 2 of Shades of Blue, 36 shows in Las Vegas, a new Spanish album, her new show World of Dance for NBC, and Bye Bye Birdie Live! So as Jennifer always likes to say, “stay tuned”!

Top 10 JLo Moments of 2015!

2015 was a very hectic and busy year for Jennifer Lopez! This year, probably more than most years, Jennifer took on a lot of new projects. A large part of the year was focused on her new show Shades of Blue, and working on her upcoming Las Vegas residency, which we’ll get to enjoy in 2016. Even with those major projects in the works, Jennifer juggled quite a few other things this year, so as always, I’m ending the year with my top 10 favorite moments of the year. This year, I decided to go in chronological order, so without further ado: (more…)

Top 10 JLo Moments of 2014!

2014 was a big and busy year for Jennifer Lopez! As always, at the end of the year, I like to take a trip down memory lane and list some of my favorite moments from the past year. Jennifer has accomplished so much this year.  Even though I’ve been a fan for 15 years, she continues to surprise and inspire me with her drive, her determination, and her ability to forge ahead through adversity.

It was way too difficult to rank them, so here are my top 10 moments, in no particular order:

jen vevo

Vevo Certifications

Earlier this year, Jennifer was presented with five Vevo certification awards for music videos with over 100 million views: “Live It Up”, “Dance Again”, “Goin In”, “I’m Into You”, and “On The Floor”. “Papi” passed the 100 million mark shortly after filming, and Jennifer also received Vevo certification credit this year with “Adrenalina” and “We Are One”. Jennifer is well on her way to another Vevo certification with “Booty”, and “On The Floor” is still the most watch music video by a female of all time, with over 800 million views.

Adrenalina 1

“Adrenalina” vs “We Are One”

Always an overachiever, Jennifer had not one, but two World Cup songs this year! “We Are One (Ole Ola)” by Pitbull feat JLo and Claudia Leitte was the official World Cup song and “Adrenalina” by Wisin feat JLo and Ricky Martin was Univision’s official World Cup song. “Adrenalina” and “We Are One” both landed in the top 5 most watched Latin music videos this year, with 246 million and 323 million views, respectively.

Billions of people watched as Jennifer performed”We Are One” with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte live at the World Cup opening ceremony. “Adrenalina” won the battle in the US, though, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Latin Songs chart, #1 on the Latin Digital Songs chart, and #2 on the Latin Streaming chart. It spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, tying the record on that chart! On the year-end charts, “Adrenalina” came in at #9 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, #10 on the Latin Digital Songs chart, #11 on the Latin Airplay Songs chart, and #17 on the Latin Streaming Songs chart.

American Idol Judges Perform Together

It has often been rumored, but this year, Jennifer and her fellow Idol judges performed together during the American Idol finale! The trio sang Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” and “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac. Jennifer sounded great and looked adorable playing her tambourine. You could tell they had a great time, and we hope there will be a repeat performance in 2015! Jennifer also performed “First Love” that night. The performances that night were two completely different sides to Jennifer, which was fun to see.

A.K.A.

In June, Jennifer released her long-awaited 10th album, A.K.A.! The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

JLovers were spoiled this musical era, with music videos and teasers for “Same Girl”, “I Luh Ya Papi”, “First Love”, “Booty” (x 2!), “Worry No More”, and “Emotions”. There were shows, concerts, interviews, autographed albums, not to mention a free concert for fans in the Bronx! We were able to check out the album a week before it was released, which was pretty epic! A.K.A. showcases the many sides of Jennifer, but especially her strength, heartbreak, and vulnerability.

true love

True Love

Jennifer’s first book, True Love, was released November 4. True Love explores the transformative two-year journey of how, as an artist and a mother, Jennifer confronted her greatest challenges, identified her biggest fears, and ultimately emerged a stronger person than she’s ever been. I really enjoyed reading it, and it’s definitely a must-have for any JLover. It felt very authentic and honest, and it was very interesting to read her reflections on certain events in her life.

True Love debuted at #5 on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction bestseller list and hit all three New York Times lists in its category, including the bestseller list for nonfiction e-books (#7) and the nonfiction list that tracks combined e-book/physical book sales (#7). Amor Verdadero, the Spanish version, debuted at #1 on the Spanish-language nonfiction hardcover chart.

Jennifer’s Amazing Abs

Just another day at the gym for Jennifer, right? Wrong! Jennifer’s amazing abs got worldwide headlines in October, and with good reason. Jennifer is perfect gymspiration for 2015.

JLo BBMAs

Billboard Icon

In May, Jennifer was honored with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards, and I was lucky enough to attend the show! The Icon Award is the BBMA’s ultimate honor. The award recognizes lifetime achievement and an artist’s remarkable and enduring contribution to popular music. Jennifer was the fourth artist and the first woman to win the award.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Jennifer performed “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte, as well as “First Love”, before picking up her award. Jennifer delivered a great speech, thanking her family, friends, and fans. It was a very special moment to watch in person, and especially to have the opportunity to congratulate Jennifer personally after the show. It was a huge honor for her, and something that I’ll never forget!

Jennifer also graced the cover of Billboard and here’s a bonus photo, just because this was one of my favorite shoots of the year. Plus, the article was in-depth and informative. What more could a JLover ask for? You can check out the shoot and article in the gallery!

Bronx Concert

In June, Jennifer put on a free 90 minute show for a crowd of 25,000 fans in her home town of the Bronx! It was a brand new show with special performances that included appearances by Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and French Montana. Jennifer performed songs from AKA, as well as old favorites. She really changed things up, though, with performances of Selena’s “No Me Queda Mas”, Barbra Streisand’s “My Man”, and Diana Ross’ “Theme From Mahogany”. If that wasn’t enough, she also premiered “Stressin” feat Fat Joe at the show!

Harper’s Bazaar Russia

This was one of my favorite shoots of the year! Jennifer looks amazingly regal in this photo shoot from Harper’s Bazaar Russia. It’s a gorgeous and refreshing shoot, unlike anything she’s ever done before. You can see the photos in the gallery!

jen hangout

Google+ Hangout

This was one of my favorite moments of the year! Jennifer hosted a Google Hangout when A.K.A. was released and answered the top fan questions. Fans got answers to burning questions, such as the status of the “Dance Again” film (now premiering on HBO December 31). Jennifer answered our question, as well!  Jennifer was honest and open and it was a great experience. You should definitely do it again soon, Jennifer!

Jennifer has a very busy 2015 coming up, with “American Idol”, “The Boy Next Door”, and “Lila & Eve” premiering in January. “Home”, an animated film, will be released in March, and Jennifer has a new TV show, “Shades of Blue” lined up for the Fall. Jennifer always has a few surprises up her sleeve, so we can’t wait to see what else 2015 has in store!

Thanks to all of our visitors, members, and contributors for a great 2014!
