Top 10 JLo Moments of 2015!

2015 was a very hectic and busy year for Jennifer Lopez! This year, probably more than most years, Jennifer took on a lot of new projects. A large part of the year was focused on her new show Shades of Blue, and working on her upcoming Las Vegas residency, which we’ll get to enjoy in 2016. Even with those major projects in the works, Jennifer juggled quite a few other things this year, so as always, I’m ending the year with my top 10 favorite moments of the year. This year, I decided to go in chronological order, so without further ado:

The Boy Next Door

Jennifer started off 2015 with a bang. Jennifer kicked off the year with an incredible promo blitz to support her new movie, The Boy Next Door. It paid off in a big way, as The Boy Next Door opened at #2 with $15 million (nearly four times its $4 million budget)! The film went on to gross over $52 million in theaters worldwide and almost $7 million on DVD and Blu-ray. Jennifer took home an MTV Movie Award for Best Scared As Shit Performance and she and the movie are nominated for Favorite Dramatic Actress and Favorite Thriller Movie at the People’s Choice Awards! Winners will be announced January 6. Finally, Universal Pictures was so happy with the movie’s success, that they are re-teaming with Jennifer on a new movie called Mothers I’d Like To…!

Jennifer & The Twins Cover PEOPLE Magazine

Also in January, Jennifer and her twins, Emme and Max, were featured on the cover of PEOPLE Magazine. The sweet photoshoot took place at their LA home and featured them doing normal things like baking cookies and reading in bed. So adorable!

Feel The Light Performance on American Idol

In March, Jennifer took the American Idol stage for a very cool and innovative performance of Feel The Light. I love Feel The Light and still listen to it regularly and this was such a beautiful performance! Jennifer sounded and looked beautiful as effects and scenes from the movie HOME (which Jennifer was part of!) were projected onto her dress. Per Deadline, Feel The Light has a shot at an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song category, so cross your fingers!

Lip Sync Battle

JLo Joins Anna Kendrick on Lip Sync Battle

This was a fun one! Anna Kendrick performed Booty on Lip Sync Battle, a show where celebrities try to outdo each other while performing popular songs. Anna won the battle by bringing Jennifer out as her surprise guest!

What You Mean To Me

This is probably one of my favorite songs Jennifer has ever recorded, so it’s making the list! What You Mean To Me features Trey Songz and is part of the Finding Neverland: The Album, an album featuring reworked songs from the current Broadway musical, Finding Neverland. It’s such a beautiful song and such a huge part of the show. Plus, I’m kind of hoping recording the song and her subsequent trip to the Tony Awards inspired Jennifer to add “tackle Broadway” to her lengthy list of projects. If you haven’t already done so, download What You Mean To Me on iTunes and stream it on Spotify!

selena tribute

Selena Tribute

On April 30, Jennifer paid tribute to Selena Quintanilla-Perez with a musical performance at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Jennifer’s nearly seven-minute medley of Selena’s hits, Como La Flor, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, Amor Prohibido, I Could Fall In Love and No Me Queda Mas, featured Los Dinos and earned rave reviews and made Billboard’s year-end list. The cover was released on iTunes and hit #1 on the iTunes Latin Songs chart and debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Songs chart.

Idol Finale Performances

In May, Jennifer performed twice during the American Idol finale. First up was a performance of Back It Up with Prince Royce and Pitbull, and then Jennifer performed Rihanna’s Diamonds and Bruno Mars’ Locked Out of Heaven alongside Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. Jennifer sounded amazing! Her covers with Keith and Harry are one of my favorite parts of the American Idol season. It’s fun to see her do something a little bit different. I hope they continue the trend at the end of the upcoming season.

US Weekly’s Best Bodies

Also in May, Jennifer was featured on the cover of US Weekly’s “Best Bodies” issue. Look no further for gymspiration in 2016! The magazine featured a new photoshoot that showed off her amazing figure.

back-it-up

Back It Up & El Mismo Sol

Jennifer had a great year on the Latin charts! Between her Selena Tribute, Back It Up, and El Mismo Sol, Jennifer was ranked the 2nd most successful female on Billboard’s 2015 Latin charts. El Mismo Sol peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart. The Back It Up music video has over 140 million views on Youtube/Vevo. Back It Up peaked at #10 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs chart, #17 on the Latin Airplay chart, and #19 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

The AMAs

Last, but not least, in November, Jennifer hosted the American Music Awards and delivered an amazing opening performance! Jennifer kicked off the show doing what she does best- performing a 6 minute medley of AMA artists’ hits! The heavy dance performance earned rave reviews and it was fun to see her perform to other artist’s songs. Jennifer isn’t content to do one thing, however. Jennifer also hosted the show, rocking 10 looks throughout the night, and then she changed again for the after party! Jennifer also had a lovely speech, saying she hoped she could inspire others to dream big and realize they can accomplish their dreams.

That’s a wrap on 2-15, but we have tons to look forward to in 2016! As Jennifer said, it’s going to be a JLo year, as Shades of Blue and American Idol premiere next week and Jennifer’s new Las Vegas residency, All I Have, begins on January 20! Plus, Jennifer hinted about a new album during an iHeartRadio twitter chat. Jennifer always has surprises up her sleeve, so as she always says, stay tuned!
