10 Revelations in JLo’s “True Love”

Now that JLo’s new book, True Love, has been out for a few days, I’ve had some time to really go through it and digest it. Jennifer really opened up, and as a long-time fan, I loved reading about her journey and how she’s grown in recent years. It was interesting to see how Jennifer, the person, felt after her performance with Marc Anthony on the finale of American Idol, for example. It was a buzz-worthy and amazing performance to the fans, yet it was the last time they would perform together as husband and wife. Plus, the book features beautiful behind-the-scenes photos from the tour and of Jennifer and the twins.

True Love’s chapters are organized into the acts from the Dance Again World Tour. This works very nicely, as Jennifer draws quite a few parallels between mounting a world tour and surviving (and thriving!) after a devastating break up.

We partnered up with WhoSay to list 10 of my favorite takeaways and nuggets from the book, in no particular order:

1. Love yourself. This is the recurring theme throughout the book and the ultimate lesson. This was Jennifer’s biggest epiphany and she realized it while meeting with motivational author Louise Hay. If you don’t take care of and respect yourself- your mind, your body, and your soul- you won’t be treated the way you deserve to be treated!

2. Jennifer started planning the Dance Again World Tour as a way to distract herself from her divorce.

3. Her break-up with Ben was her “first real heartbreak.”

4. Jennifer has over 60 songs with the word “love” in the title! I knew it was probably her favorite topic, but wow!

5. Jennifer admits that all of her relationships had a passionate intensity that she repeatedly mistook for her “happily ever after.”

True Love book cover revealed

Jennifer is ready to tell the tale in her first book True Love, to be published Oct. 28 in both English and Spanish.

The memoir will focus on a two-year period in which, as her publisher explained, she faces “one of her life’s most defining periods.” During this time, she “confronted her greatest challenges, identified her biggest fears, and ultimately emerged a stronger person than she’s ever been.” The book will feature a collection of photographs of the star and aim to be more like a “diary,” according to Penguin’s Celebra imprint, who has taken the world rights of the book to publish it.

“What’s funny is, I didn’t start off the project wanting to bare my soul in print,” Lopez, 44, told PEOPLE backstage at the Las Vegas MGM Grand.

“It started off as a diary of the year I went on tour … and when I was on the road, it became something else,” she said. “I really surprised myself, and I realized, ‘Oh my god, I’m writing this book.’ ”

A portion of the book’s proceeds will benefit The Lopez Family Foundation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of women and children.

“Even to this day, I think, ‘Do I put this book out there?’ ” she said. “I did a lot of soul searching and praying, because I don’t ever want it to be mistaken for anything other than it was, which is sharing something I learned with people I could help.”

“I changed a lot as a person,” Lopez said in reference to the past few years, which included her 2012 split from Marc Anthony after nearly eight years of marriage.

“It was a very transformative moment in my life. I had gone through a lot of changes and then confronting fears of having never toured and being a mom on my own. It was a real shellshock time for me.”

Celebrating 10 Years of BB JLove!!

We are 10 years old!!! It is CRAZY to think that the site has been online for 10 years now.

To put it in perspective, back in 2002, Jennifer released J to the L O! The Remixes and This is Me…Then, Enough and Maid in Manhattan hit theaters, and her first perfume, Glow, was released! In the past 10 years, Jennifer has released 5 albums, 21 singles, 10 movies (not including What To Expect When You’re Expecting, Ice Age, and Parker, which will all be released in the next 8 months), 19 perfumes, and a million other things! It’s exciting to think about all that she has accomplished and how much we have accomplished, as well!

BB started as a message board dedicated to dozens of famous female celebrities, but Jennifer was always the star! After a few years, we changed gears and became a dedicated JLo fan forum. Over the years we grew and expanded into the #1 JLo fan community with a fansite, message board, and Twitter.

We’ve had over 125 million views, 1 million+ posts, tens of thousands of BBJLovers, thousands of dollars raised for charity (CHLA and BGCA), 4 successfully delivered fanbooks/online projects, a one on one interview with Queen JLo herself, and several exclusive opportunities for fans to get up close and personal with Jennifer! We’ve had an amazing run, and we can’t wait to continue topping ourselves!

THANK YOU to all of the JLovers for visiting and hanging out with us for all of these years and to Jennifer and her team for supporting us throughout the years. Jennifer, you are a true inspiration.

Cheers to 10 more years!
