American Idol 2012: Top 3 Revealed After Latest Elimination

By: Matthew Boyer (GTP) |
After Hollie Cavanagh’s elimination from American Idol 2012 on Thursday the finalists pool was
whittled down to just three remaining singers. One of these three will become the next American Idol.

Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, and Jessica Sanchez spent their Saturday enjoying hometown festivities which we’ll all get to enjoy during this week’s American Idol episodes. But you can bet the singers were back to work shortly after the fun ended because they’ve got a big task this week: three songs.

Each of the Top 3 finalists will perform three different selections: one of their choosing, one from the judges, and one from Jimmy Iovine. This options are wide open and should deliver a great night of performances. Anyone taking bets on a judge challenging song selection for one that turns out to be their own fault?

We’re less than two weeks away from crowning the winner of American Idol 2012. Who do you think it will be?

Tah71 (or someone else) should add a poll to this topic!

My dream finale...
- Joshua & Jessica
- Joshua & Phillip
- Jessica & Phillip

My dream finale would be J&J! :D

But I might change my mind after Wednesday's episode. :p

Nice idea! Updated! :D

I voted for Jessica and Joshua. They need to change things up and get some diversity going. I'm not really a big fan of any of them, though. The only one I can see being somewhat successful is Jessica.

‘American Idol’ To Undergo Creative Changes Next Season

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday May 14, 2012 @ 7:23am PDT

Last week, News Corp COO Chase Carey told Wall Street analysts that “our challenge for next year is to put some fresh energy in” Fox’s American Idol after “we probably didn’t do enough this year” in terms of changes. During this morning’s Fox upfronts conference call, Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said the show will undergo “some creative tweaking” heading into next season, declining to elaborate because the reality series is still in production on its current 11th season. He acknowledged that the network didn’t feel it needed to make changes going into this season after a strong previous cycle with new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and that the show’s ratings “dropped more than anticipated” this cycle as “space got crowded.” Asked whether he is satisfied with the new judges’ performance, Fox entertainment president Peter Rice said they are “terrific and have great chemistry and integrity.” He refused to confirm that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join Fox’s other music reality series, The X Factor, as new judges, only noting that the new judging panel would be “more entertaining and exiting.”

Reilly also took subtle jabs at NBC, which is putting 13 new comedies on the schedule next season, several of them with shorter orders. “Some of the short orders would be very confusing for the audience,” Reilly said. He later addressed NBC’s music competition The Voice and its signature spinning chairs element. “It’s a twist that turned out to be a gimmick — look at the precipitous decline after that,” he said.

They have so many great performances (especially Joshua!)

Jessica - "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going"

Joshua - "It's a Man's Man's Man's World"

Phillip - "U Got It Bad"

Jessica is the best female vocalist, Joshua is the best singer ever on Idol and Phillip is the white guy with guitar.

J thank you so much for the videos!! Well Jessica has the package of what they look for! She has an amazing voice and she could do great things in Soul music! Joshua has an incredible voice! It reminds me Seal for some reason!! Phillip is most probably the one who could end up being an indie artist and it would suit him great imo (eg. Gotye)!

‘America’s Got Talent’ ratings take a dive with Howard Stern debut
By Lisa de Moraes

About 10.3 million people tuned in to watch Howard Stern’s debut on NBC’s competition series “America’s Got Talent” Monday night, according to early stats.

Last year, when the show debuted later in May, on a Tuesday, it had clocked 15.3 million viewers.

That’s a 33 percent plunge.

Among 18-49 year old viewers who are the currency of NBC ad sales, Stern’s “Talent” season kickoff clocked 3.6 rating. That means just under 4 percent of the country’s viewers in that age bracket tuned in.

Last year’s debut did a 4.3 rating. That’s a 16 percent dive.

Last year’s season debut aired the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The May sweep ratings derby had ended by then and “Talent” faced mostly rerun programming on the other broadcast networks.

This year, armed with Stern, “Talent” debuted in the teeth of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” penultimate performance night, as well as the season debut of “The Bachcelorette.”

Stern’s unveiling also faced the one-hour season finale of CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother,” which had been enjoying one of its stronger seasons, as well as original episodes of “Two and a Half Men” and “Mike and Molly.”

The “Talent” debut also competed for audience with the season finale of Fox’s “Bones” and the penultimate episode of Hugh Laurie’s long-running doc drama “House.”

The moral of this story? Howard Stern is not, as NBC said at the start of the “Talent” episode, the King of All Media, and NBC made the mistake of buying into its own hype, making a serious misstep when it scheduled Stern’s “Talent” debut on Monday night.
