The way they integrated Blackberry products has been very clever.

I wonder if the sponsors are pleased with the overall ratings of the show. I'm sure they and the producers are bummed about the ratings on Fox, but I wonder if they are pleased overall and if there will be a second season.

'Q'Viva! The Chosen' Moved to Late Night Saturday

Categories: Broadcast TV

Written By Amanda Kondolojy

March 27th, 2012

FOX's Saturday talent competition Q'Viva: The Chosen (which features judges Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez) has been moved from its original 8:00 PM Saturday time slot to 11:00 PM. The show's original 2-hour format is also being condensed to a brisker 90 minutes.

The scheduling hole will be filled immediately by a new Cops this weekend, and by repeats of Cops and Bones for the weeks following.

Gurl stick with the movies and music. Overexposing yourself is not a good career move. :sorry:

That's really annoying. There were two episodes left. :rolleyes

I like that she tried with this. It was a great idea and I think the show is really good/interesting. It was always an uphill battle in English, though. :\

It's a hit elsewhere no? Fox is probably pissed they didn't air at the same time the Spanish episodes went on.

Loving the Blackberry placements too.. The part when Marc is handing out the products to the contestants @ the mansion and says something like, now you'll be able to stay connected to your family back home.. was a VERY real and touching moment for me..that's how we do it in our casa! O:-)

Also, although I personally love the 2hr eps, I don't think they work for the USA...vs. Latin countries where the 2+ hour shows are commonplace FAMILY events! (ie: Univision's Sabado Gigante, and the miriad of reality/talent competition that are sometimes over 3 hours long!! %))

This stinks and I think I mentioned at one point I was worried about ratings for fox when they had Univision on. Some of u r right tho why not just keep it they only had 2 episodes left.

I'm not very surprised. I knew 2 hours on Saturdays was a horrible decision from the start. They would've had more success if it was on a Friday night.

NBC has actively promoted "The Voice" as much as possible,
including repeating the shows on other channels (e.g. E!).
Their NBC-news affiliates have also mentioned the show in
a positive way, alongside items about American Idol,
even though the Voice's ratings were initially slow
in their ascent. + Maybe FOX could have asked about a
more English sounding title for the anglicized version
of "Q'VIVA" , so maybe more in the audience might
'get it' ?

Friday night is not that great either, that's where series go to die. I think it didn't do that well on Fox cause
1. it was two hours: I like the show, but couldn't get myself to watch the full two hours at once. I think it would've been better if the Spanish version was two hours and the Fox version 1 hour.
2. Lots of Latin viewers had already watched it on Univision.

Both Friday and Saturday suck ratings-wise. TBH, I don't think a different night would've changed anything. The ratings were well below the other shows on Saturdays. If it were on at some point during the week, I think the ratings would've gotten a lot of bad press.

I thought two hours was better because it was more time for people to find it in that block. Nothing is really on TV on Saturday, so if people were flipping channels, they might come across it and watch. For example, Idol's ratings increase the longer it is on.

Of course, the alternative idea is that they were trying to burn through it and get it over with as quickly as possible. I don't know.

I agree that the title probably didn't help, Deb.

press release

30 Million Tune In for Q'VIVA! THE CHOSEN

Broadcast in English, Spanish and Portuguese on 22 Networks in 21 Countries Worldwide

LOS ANGELES, CA, Mar 28, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- New figures reveal that over 30 million TV viewers are now watching Q'VIVA! THE CHOSEN across the Americas, making it one of the biggest new international TV shows of 2012. Created by Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Jamie King, in collaboration with BlackBerry(R), Q'VIVA! THE CHOSEN is a groundbreaking docu-journey celebrating Latin culture, music and performance arts.

The multilingual show, which is produced in English, Spanish and Portuguese, has captured the region's attention since its premiere earlier this year. Spanish speaking fans were the first to fall in love with the show as Q'VIVA! THE CHOSEN became #1 and #2 in its timeslot across all networks in Puerto Rico, Peru, Uruguay, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Brazil, while delivering audience share of 35% in Uruguay, 33% in Columbia and 22% in Ecuador.

In Puerto Rico, Q'VIVA! THE CHOSEN increased Saturday night viewership by a spectacular 60% and in Uruguay by 50% when it opened last month. Solid debuts in Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and other Latin American countries have added further viewers in the past few weeks. The show will also continue to expand internationally as production partner Endemol begins to roll it out globally and more countries sign up to broadcast the series.

During the course of the series, which is also sponsored by American Airlines and Kohl's, Jennifer, Marc and Jamie travel throughout the region and witness the most amazing singers, dancers, musicians, and mesmerizing performers that they have found through local grassroots efforts, YouTube (youtube.com/qviva), and Facebook (facebook.com/qvivathechosen).

"The Chosen" artists make a dream journey to the U.S. for a once in a lifetime opportunity to share their artistic gifts with the world as part of a spectacular live Las Vegas show that will be the greatest celebration of Latin music and performance arts that the world has ever seen.

Shanti, thanks for all the links

I haven't been able to keep up with the show like I want to, with the time slot and with Fox & Univision being on different schedules. The response (on Fox, at least) is really upsetting cuz this is quality programming & really fun :( Go figure...

it'll be on over here in about 3hrs... sadly it will decrease around 70% in viewership(crossing my fingers it won't) but SNL is competition when it airs at 11:30, plus FOX's only late night hit was MADTV which dropped to around 1million viewers before it was canned...Friday would've also been bad but not as bad as saturday, which is usually the day FOX airs cheap low budget reality shows like cops. :(
