Janet Jackson most certainly has the x factor but does she have The X Factor?

The pop icon appears caught off guard by the question when Anderson Cooper asks during an interview set to air Monday on his talk show.

"Oh my God," she said, before stumbling over her words a bit and laughing. Watch the clip above.

When she finally found the words to answer his very pointed question, Jackson, 45, says, "No I'm not a judge on The X Factor."

But, there are two spots open on Simon Cowell's show after season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were fired in January.

"You're not currently a judge on The X Factor," a giddy Cooper says.

"No, I am not," Jackson replies, "but that's all I really think I should say."

"Intriguing, I will say," Anderson says. "Intriguing."

Indeed!

I love Janet! I hope it's true. I mean if she's not going to release anything she could atleast stay relevant by becoming a TV Personality.

Anyway, which ever show gets Janet they will be hella lucky! She's a legend, and will bring in ratings like a motha! She can take Jen's spot @ "American Idol" for next year.

Janet is too nice.

ohh what? she will be on Anderson this monday. Hell yes I'm watching this. Although I have to agree she will make a horrible judge as much as I love her.

We need someone like Tyra Banks! Have you guys ever seen that one interview from like 2 years ago or something with barbara walters??? She asks her something and she gives this eery stare and smiles. That was creepy as hell. As if to tell barbara "get your bitch ass off my sack before I crack you". I would watch that she is upfront and brutally honest.

This flop show is the last thing this woman needs.

I think she should consider pursuing more serious movie roles, she's a REALLY great actress.

She comes off as soooooooooo shy, so I can't really see her doing it.

I love janet, but i don t see her doing that show, she s just not a tv person.
she should concentrate on a us, and make her comebecak, and don t even try worldwide cause she s totally forgotten there.
