That's where the part starts without Ashanti til the end, compare it to the original. But if nobody hears the difference, I guess Ashanti didn't make that much of a difference for the song after all. I hate when people say Ashanti's singing the whole song...

I prefer the version with Ashanti. Jennifer could've sung over Ashanti's part easily but it seems Irv kept Ashanti on it to give people something to talk about.

I can hear the difference, but I feel like Jen could've achieved the same effect with layering, anyway. I think that's pretty much all her voice added - some dimension.

Irv kept Ashanti on to help launch her, IMO, and yes, get people talking.

P.S. - I agree with Heather as well. Why they didn't just allow Jen to overlay her vocals, and chose Ashanti as a backup vocalist is beyond me. But perhaps Ashanti needed the money at the time of recording?
