Im SO proud of Jen! Am i the only one who keep thinking of Selena opening her boutique? Its such an accomplishment, especially for Jen!

J. Lo shifts into mercantile gear, opens store at Field's

First, there was J. Lo the singer. Then J. Lo the perfume maker. Finally, J. Lo the clothes designer. But on Thursday, in front of thousands of screaming fans, Jennifer Lopez unveiled her newest incarnation: retailer.

The pop princess/fashion designer was in Chicago to open the first World of JLo boutique in the United States. Located on the second floor of the State Street Marshall Field's, the store is all things J. Lo -- from shoes to furs.

"To open in a major city with such great shopping is great," Lopez told the Sun-Times. "It's the perfect place."

And the place seems to love Lopez. People started lining up inside Marshall Field's hours before Lopez arrived. By the time she hit the four-level catwalk, thousands of people were chanting her name and cheering loudly from the multiple balconies overlooking the stage.

"I didn't expect a little in-store appearance to be this big," she said later. "I was really stunned -- I was, like, 'Wow.' "

Her line of clothes, which includes the Sweetface label, is a mix of "where I come from and what I've seen," Lopez said.

The clothes have been sold for a while in Field's, but this is the first time that all of Lopez's products will be in one place.

Lopez acknowledged that Field's has supported her line, and she doesn't expect that to change once Macy's takes over.

She had some advice for Chicagoans regarding the name change: Give Macy's a chance.

"I am a big fan of this store and I don't think a name change will mean that much," Lopez said. "I don't think the products or anything else will suffer. Just give it a chance. I think it will be OK."

theres nothing wrong with it! but the look isnt so young and fresh and imo it should've been cos she was there to promote her fashionlabel which is very fresh, urban, classy and sexy! but its just my opinion

i love what she's wearing for the interview/press conference (the white dress), but that catwalk dress or HORRID. She looks like a fairy godmother gone wrong! And she picked her boutque opening to wear that!

anyway, i hope the store goes really really well and lots more open. I bet SIMW plays a lot in the stores, and was playing during the opening

On Access Hollywood they showed inside the store, I didn't know it was that big!

I met Jen again last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Andy Hilfiger made it happen!! My trip has been unbelievable - the whole event was craaaaaaaazyyyY!! He took me to Jen's lil' room backstage...I talked to her for a couple minutes...TOOK A PIC!!! rubbed elbows w/ the Hilfigers!! you guyz I'm just so thankful right now...i'm still in Chicago I'm going back home tomorrow and will post the pic as soon as I get a chance...I'll also tell you guys eeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvverything about the event...my dream came true guys...I told her that!! she's like "awwwwww" I showed her the pic of her with the scrapbook she's all "OHHH that's my 'oh my god' face!! haha" she said she remembered!

i bought two Sweetface pieces *THE CLOTHING IS BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON* the fashion show was a condensed version of the NYC one!!! w/ diff models of course but most all the outfits were there...soooooooo hot!! lol i took the crystals on the runway ....omg...so much to tell you guys - it's just been unbelievable!! wish me a safe return home tomorrow and y'all should see the pic

btw..the PETA fucks were there...not many from what i saw but could've been more of them...y'all should see the fursSSSSSS!!!!!!!
