The duels round on “World of Dance” kicked off Tuesday night on NBC where top qualifying acts from each division chose a rival to battle head to head for the chance to advance in the competition. Judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo awarded the acts up to 20 points in the following categories: Performance, technique, choreography, creativity and presentation, for a maximum score of 100. Below, read our recap of “World of Dance” Season 1, Episode 4.

Host Jenna Dewan Tatum was on hand to deliver results to the contestants who have been divided into three categories: Upper (at least 18 years old and up to four members), Team (at least 18 years old and more than four members), and Junior (under 18 years old). The highest scoring dancers in each duel won a place in the next round while the losers were eliminated. Here is my ranking of the four duels from Tuesday night, from top to bottom.

    1. Quick Style vs. Keone & Mari (Upper) — In a duel that was more personal than any other, former “Norway’s Got Talent” winners Quick Style were pitted against their former teachers, married choreographers Keone & Mari. For their performance, Keone & Mari delivered a contemporary routine depicting a couple walking through life addicted to their cell phones until they spot each other. This duo created a fascinating story through dance and their work is captivating to watch. Quick Style had a much different approach performing a hip-hop routine with quick movements and precision. This trio is so in sync it is as if they share one mind as they work through complex movements without ever breaking from each other. The performance was fun, sexy, and complicated all in one.

    2. Swing Latino vs. Miami All Stars (Team) — Colombian salsa troop Swing Latino took on elite amateurs, Miami All Stars, in this duel between two Latin teams specializing in ballroom dancing. The footwork of Swing Latino is perhaps the most mesmerizing aspect of their routines, but in this instance it was overshadowed by even more difficult moves that included throwing one dancer across the stage, where she was caught by another balancing on top of his teammates. The crowd understandably exploded at the conclusion of their performance. The Miami All Stars proved to be no slouches as they responded with a tightly choreographed swing routine that seemed tailor-made for the Broadway stage. In what looked like a party from beginning to end, the group excelled at filling up the stage with one member even break dancing while others continued their swing style around him.

    3. Fik-Shun vs. Nick Daniels (Upper) — Former “So You Think You Can Dance” winner Fik-Shun chose to battle Nick Daniels in this duel that pitted hip-hop against contemporary. Fik-Shun displayed unprecedented control while contorting and twisting his body with each beat of music. Lopez commented that Fik-Shun has more musicality than anyone in the competition, while Hough expressed he would like to see more choreography and less freestyle. Conversely, the more traditional Daniels delivered a tightly choreographed routine that showed off his flexibility and acrobatic skills. Between pirouettes he would flip through the air with incredible height and athleticism.

    4. Eva Igo vs. Kyntay (Junior) — Small-town powerhouse Eva Igo chose to go up against viral hip-hop sensation Kyntay in a junior duel of epic proportions. Kyntay, a duo consisting of two teenage girls, delivered with pure attitude and energy that is impossible to contain. The YouTube stars let the world know why millions of people tune into their videos online with this fun routine that left the audience smiling from ear to ear. Igo took a more serious approach with her absolutely stunning contemporary routine. The lines she creates with her body makes her small frame appear six feet tall as she effortlessly glides across the stage.

All my preferences went through this week. The tightest was def Quick Style vs. Keone & Mari. They made a big mistake choosing them to duel against.

They showed a commercial about auditions, so I suppose a Season 2 announcement is coming soon.

It dropped to 1.8 in the rating, only 1% off, still doing amazing in the ratings. El señor de los cielos premiered last night at 10 for Telemundo, it's a huge telenovelas so I'm sure that 1% dropped its all the Latin people that were watching WOD but last didn't watch it and recorded it in order to watch el senor de los cielos, telenovelas and paegents are our bread and butter

                1.8 is huge for a 10PM show.
NBC scored its usual dominant ratings win Tuesday night, with “America’s Got Talent” and “World of Dance” finishing first and second in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. In fact, NBC’s average for the night — a 2.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.95 million viewers — beats the combined total of ABC, CBS, FOX and The CW.

                  Oh wow!

That's a pretty good indication that this is going to be renewed for another season.

As for this episode, I was there at the taping for a few hours. She actually mentioned that she worked with Swing Latino for the AMA performance, but I guess they cut that out because it made her seem biased.

I was standing across from her when she was taking this photo :woot :love2 She was chewing her gum and gave it to one of the production guys, haha. I wasn't supposed to be there at that time but the escort who walked with me was too busy talking to someone else so I just walked around on my own after coming back from the bathroom and then Jennifer walked in the room to take these photos.

They all come on to do their dance one time for the judges. And in between or when the judges go for breaks, they film certain routines again in order to get different shots. Jenna sometimes has to walk with the people back on stage again to reshoot it as well. In between acts Jen's hairdresser comes in (Chris did the hair for this show) and she touches up her own lips all the time. There's little to no interaction with the crowd. Sometimes someone screams "I LOVE YOU JLO", and then she'll say something like "I love you too sweetie and/or wave".

It's a lot of waiting and very long shooting days. I actually left the studio while they were still recording 'cause I thought it was kind of a waste of time

Also, the sounstage where it's filmed is so much smaller then it looks on TV, I was surprised! But that's what wide angle lenses do I guess ;)

TV Ratings Tuesday: ‘Downward Dog’ finale and ‘AGT’ down, ‘World of Dance’ up
NBC scored another easy ratings win Tuesday, but “America’s Got Talent” slipped a little bit vs. its previous performance. The show drew a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49, its lowest of the season so far. “World of Dance,” however, was up a tenth of a point vs. last week at 1.9.

The finale of “Downward Dog” on ABC also took a hit. The last two episodes — which aired after a special edition of “The Bachelorette” (1.2) — posted a 0.5 and 0.4, the show’s lowest of the season.

The season finale of “iZombie” on The CW was even with last week at 0.3.
