Touching up your roots is something you can do at home in between salon visits. You'll want to purchase a color that is as similar as possible to your own processed color. Follow directions on the box, but here are some extra tips.
Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 30 minutes

Here's How:
1. You'll want to put on your gloves (provided in the box) & an old t-shirt.

2. Separate hair into 4 sections from front to back. Secure with plastic jaw-clips.

3. Mix color as directions suggest on box. Release one section of hair & using brush, apply color to the area around the roots up to the point where the new color begins. You will want some overlap. Do not massage into scalp.

4. Using applicator tip, make a part halfway below center part. Flip hair over center part and apply color to this new part. Repeat halfway partings until all roots in that section are covered. Repeat on remaining 3 sections.

5. Set the timer for five minutes less than your regular processing time.
When timer goes off, work the color down from roots to ends. Use any leftover color from the bottle.
Leave on for five minutes. Rinse hair thoroughly with lukewarm water and condition according to package directions.

6. Style and show off your root-to-tip gorgeous color...

Tips:
If you have highlights you can't get roots touched up. When you get your whole head colored than it's easy to touch up the roots, but if you get highlights, it's virtually impossible for a stylist to do touch-ups, therefore you must process the entire strand. Watch next time your stylist gives you highlights -- thousands of strands get color while thousands do not. Simply touching up roots would give you an uneven look.
