In town on Thursday for a TV show, the co-owner of the reigning IPL champs told Metro on the sidelines: “As of last night, it’s Jennifer Lopez…. Apart from her, we have our superstars… one to ghar ka jo hai, unko to dance karayenge hi (superstar in question: Shah Rukh Khan). Deepika (Padukone) and Katrina (Kaif) will also be there.”

What that means for the Kolkata Knight Riders fan is that if all goes well, on April 2, Salt Lake stadium will be rocked by JLo, SRK, Kat and Deepi!

How does that stack up against IPL 5’s opening night in Chennai last April? The foreign oomph came in the form of Katy Perry, sporting a bindi and maang teeka, who belted out hits like Fireworks and California Girls. This time, fingers crossed, JLo will shake her booty to On The Floor and much more.

And if Chennai had starred Amitabh Bachchan’s recitation, Priyanka Chopra’s moves and Kareena Kapoor’s grooves, Salman Khan’s Dhinka chika and Prabhudeva’s Muqabla, this time the spotlight will be on SRK and his leading ladies — Katrina (Jab Tak Hai Jaan) and Deepika (Om Shanti Om and on-the-floors Chennai Express). Plus, a plethora of Tollywood stars, of course.

The Indian Premier League - 6 will be launched with a big bash on 2 April, 2013 at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.


Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd has been signed as promoter for the IPLT20 opening ceremony. "We are delighted to have tied up with Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which has a proven track record of organising and executing events on a grand scale. The Opening Ceremony of the Pepsi IPL 2013 will be one of the most spectacular events ever witnessed, in keeping with what will follow in the tournament itself, over the following seven weeks," Rajeev Shukla, Chairman, IPL, said in a statement.

Actors Shah Rukh khan, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif will be performing at the launching ceremony of IPL-6. Latest buzz is that Hollywood actress and popular singer Jennifer Lopez will be performing along with the Indian stars at the event.



Actress and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Juhi Chawla has revealed that Jennifer Lopez will attend the launch event. "As of last night, its Jennifer Lopez...apart from her, we have our superstars...one to ghar ka jo hai, unko to dance karayenge hi (superstar in question: Shah Rukh Khan), Deepika (Padukone) and Katrina (Kaif) will also be there," The Telegraph quoted her as saying.

Every year, IPL's opening ceremony will be hosted by the team that won the previous season. Last year's event was held in Chennai, as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won IPL-4. Bollwood actors Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Prabhu Deva and Kareena Kapoor grooved to popular songs at the extravagant occasion.

American pop sensation Katy Perry crooned her popular hit numbers including "Teenage dream" for the packed audience. KKR clinched the IPL-5 season title. As per traditions, the sixth edition of IPL will be held in Kolkata. The matches will take place from 3 April through 26 May, 2013.

More details about the launch ceremony will be announced in the next few days.

That would be nice but, I doubt it's true. Wasn't there a rumor back in 2011 that she was going to go do a concert with Enrique and while she's there she was gonna shoot the video for supposed 3rd single "until it beats no more"...always many rumors of her going.

They also said she and Pitbull were performing last year, I believe.

I remember the video rumor, too, but I don't remember what song. They talked about all the special costumes a designer was making for her to film the video in, I believe.

MUMBAI: While reports are suggesting that American singing sensation Jennifer Lopez will be arriving to India to perform at the opening ceremony for the IPL Sixth Edition in Kolkata, we have learnt that it is not to be, after all!

After hefty negotiations, an insider tells us that Lopez has finally turned down the offer.

Reveals our source, “She (Jennifer) was supposed to come to India with a 45 member team to perform at the IPL 6 on April 2, 2013 but now she has turned down the offer.”

On further probing, the source revealed the exact cause of Jennifer Lopez’ decision – “It seems the monies offered to her did not excite her enough. The only people so far confirmed to perform at the opening ceremony are the ‘Jab Tak Hain Jaan’ duo – SRK and Katrina Kaif.”

But, we are sure team IPL will come up with enough entertainment, if the Fifth Edition of IPL last year is anything to go by. Last year’s event was held in Chennai, with extravagant performances from the likes of Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Prabhu Deva and Kareena Kapoor.

IPL Chairman, Rajeev Shukla assures that this year will be no less. He said, “The Opening Ceremony of the Pepsi IPL 2013 will be one of the most spectacular events ever witnessed, in keeping with what will follow in the tournament itself, over the following seven weeks.”

There is surely excitement from the fact that the King of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd has been signed on as the promoter for the IPL T20 opening ceremony.

“We are delighted to have tied up with Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which has a proven track record of organising and executing events on a grand scale,” said Shukla.

On April 2, 2013, IPL 6 will be launched at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.

While, the International factor last year had been American pop sensation Katy Perry – Now, in light of the fact that Jennifer Lopez will not attend, we wonder who is going to glam up the IPL opening day?

The stage is set for the annual cricket extravaganza - Indian Premiere League.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif will perform during the opening ceremony of IPL 6 to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on April 2.

Katrina seems to have become the chosen one as far as stage performances are concerned. Her back to back hits and firebrand item numbers ensured her this place.

The opening ceremony will be organised by the Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan's firm Red Chillies Entertainment.

According to reports, SRK has roped in Hollywood actress/singer Jennifer Lopez for the gala event.

Other big-league names from the B-town that's making the round are Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Priyanka and Kareena have already been part of the IPL opening ceremony in the past. As for Deepika, she had 'close ties' with the Royal Challengers Bangalore or rather the owner of RCB (remember the lip-lock with Siddharth Mallaya in the stands).

IPL has over the years attracted Bollywood stars in the funfare.

2012 opening ceremony saw Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and American pop sensation Katy Perry add the glamour quotient.

There was no dearth of star power with Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Prabhu Deva performing at the opening night.

So this year with all the big names surfacing and Katrina, SRK performing some hot Bollywood numbers at the opening ceremony, J'Lo might just add a cherry on the cake.

We can expect a spectacular mix of razzmatazz and high-octane glittering ceremony which will set the ball rolling for the sixth edition of Indian Premiere League.

The Pepsi IPL 2013 will be played across the country from April 2 to May 26.

MUMBAI: As we had first reported to you, American singing sensation Jennifer Lopez finally turned down the offer to perform at the upcoming IPL 6 opening event. SEE REPORT

However since this is the first time Shah Rukh Khan and his Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd has been signed on as the promoter for the ceremony, we hear that the Bollywood superstar is pulling out all the stops to try and get the ‘Love Don’t Cost A thing’ sensation on board.

Co-owner of KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) – the team which won the IPL 5, SRK is going to play host at the opening ceremony of the sixth season. Now while Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have been confirmed, the dilly-dally around JLo continues.

While it is being officially reported that Jennifer backed out citing date issues, a reliable source revealed to us that “the monies offered to her did not excite JLo enough.”

Reports are now saying that SRK is trying his level best to convince the popular singer who has a huge fan base in India as well.

“It is true that we still don’t have the confirmation of Jennifer Lopez till now. She was very excited initially but now she has cited date issues. However, Shah Rukh has not given up and we are trying to convince her. We are expecting a confirmation within three days. We are trying to convince JLO’s manager to help work it out because we have seven more days to get things going. Shah Rukh is still optimistic,” explained an official from the Red Chillies Entertainment.

Other sources say Lopez has backed out because of an impasse over TV rights. Reportedly, the US channel that exclusively covers Jennifer’s performances has demanded a huge sum to hand over the exclusive rights to the Indian channel that has bought the rights of the opening ceremony. Hence the International star backed out over this road block.

“If JLo doesn’t turn up then SRK, Katrina and Deepika have to put their best foot forward and pull off the show,” said the official.

With a budget of Rs 25 crore for the opening ceremony, this was not the only change – actress and singer Priyanka Chopra also won’t be performing.

The Indian Premier League Season 6 will be held at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata on April 2, 2013.
