Last thing, why do we always underrate Jen and her ability to do a project? Like she's said she's not doing nude scenes anymore and we all assume she's a prude or won't be taken seriously unless she's getting pounded by somebody completely naked.

It's honestly so obnoxious. She was a sociopath who revolutionized the drug industry and drug wars, but some people are hung up on making sure Jen has a graphic sex scene and/or nudity to make sure it's "authentic". Please.
I also think because it's HBO, people are expecting explicit sex scenes. If you want that, watch porn. I'm all for sex scenes, but only if they make sense within the context of the film, etc.

But I heard that there's a chance for her to get a Oscar nom if her performance is really good.According to Oscar's rules, only movies which opening at least 10 theaters and a week before Dec. 31 have the qualification to get Oscar noms. But It can opening at theaters from Dec.25 to Dec.31,and then the movie down the theaters starting Jan.1.So it has the qualification for Oscar and at the same time it also can air on TV.

It's for HBO, so she'd be after an Emmy, not an Oscar.

I agree that this is probably something for 2018, not this year.

It's a movie so it won't take much time to film,I guess one month is enough.
She might filming it at the beginning of 2018 after BBB lives at Dec.2017.

depends could be 2 months I think HBO have good budgets for their movies. And I think she will have to gain weight even a little, she won't go the Charlize Theron route but she can't be like she is now.

I saw most of the HBO movies they filmed only for one month, through I want they to discuss more and make it better.
I don't lie and I can tell you that I dreamed last night and I saw the poster of this movie and she doesn't like herself hahaha.
She can't gain much because she has so many things to do including Vegas shows, but I think thay will do much make up on her face just like some artificial prosthesis??? It can make her looks more like Griselda.Good make up can give a big surprise like Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose. But so sad that her death doesn't like most kind of movies and lose some Oscar / Emmy moment lol .(I just kidding lol) :coffee

It surely will be filmed next year and I found most of the HBO movies will be air one year after the whole movie was completed filmed,so I guess we have to wait for 2019 lol.

TV News Roundup: Catherine Zeta-Jones to Play Infamous Drug Kingpin in Lifetime Movie
In today’s roundup, Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined Lifetime’s “Cocaine Godmother,” Netflix releases the first images from its upcoming miniseries “Alias Grace,” and SiriusXM announces the latest addition to its satellite radio program.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the Lifetime movie “Cocaine Godmother,” which will recount the real life of infamous drug runner Griselda Blanco. At just 17, Blanco made her way to the U.S. with a fake passport with her first husband Carlos. She soon became embroiled in the drug trade, masterminding the use of beautiful women, the elderly and children as drug mules and created false-bottom suitcases to smuggle cocaine from Colombia. Guillermo Navarro will direct with David McKenna writing the script. Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Joan Harrison, and Alisa Tager will executive produce.

HBO's movie always come out before Emmy (March to May),but Lifetime has no rule for what time in the years,so I guess Catherine's will come out late 2018 or early 2019.

I don't know the director but that a decent writer, he wrote a couple of good scripts. There is such a big deal and controversy with white actor getting role destined to "minorities" this days but they keep doing it.

Talent will fade away as the time goes by,it's for everybody. That's why I excited about what Jen got, because he write good scripts recently years, but I can't see any light for Catherine's,and another big problem is Lifetime, they won't give a good production for Catherine.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Lopez Are Making Competing Movies About Cocaine Queen Giselda Blanco
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Lopez have dueling TV movies in the work based on the life of the same infamous cocaine queen, Griselda Blanco, but the behind the scenes story may be just as intriguing as the actual plot. The storyline all started with the actresses competing for a third Blanco biopic years ago that still seems to be in development, but, now, with neither actress attached.

The original project, titled The Godmother, with script by Frank Baldwin and with Daniela C. Cretu attached to direct, announced the casting of Zeta-Jones all the way back in 2014. Though, the decision was met with understandable controversy. Blanco was Colombian. Zeta-Jones is Welsh.

That controversy only heightened when rumors circulated that Zeta-Jones won the role over Lopez, an actual Latina. Producer Bernard Koppes told The Sunday Times __in 2016 that Lopez had "lobbied that she was perfect for the role because this is a Latin woman . . . but she was told it’s too challenging, that she doesn’t have the acting quality to pull it off.”

Fast-forward to 2017 and now neither actress is attached. According to IMDB, Academy Award-nominated actress Catalina Sandino Moreno, best known for 2004's heartbreaking take on drug trafficking Maria Full of Grace, is now listed in the role of Blanco. Though, the Hollywood press never made mention of the casting change.

Lopez, seemingly undeterred, decided to work directly with HBO to make her own take on the Blanco legend. Back in August she announced the project, adding, "I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years. The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life.” In September, Wolf of Wall Street scribe Terrence Winter was brought on to write the script. When W last chatted with Lopez for a cover story earlier this year, the project was still very much in the works.

All of this brings us to today's surprising news that Zeta-Jones has somehow found yet another Blanco project to star in. The Hollywood Reporter announced she'll star in Lifetime's Cocaine Grandmother. Mexican director Guillermo Navarro is attached, while American History X scribe David Mckenna will handle the script.

So, yes, that's three Blanco project in the works. Never mind the fact that she was the subject of cult-hit documentary Cocaine Cowboys II, or a recent Univision telenovela.

Maybe you're wondering what all the hype is about. Well, Blanco's life is quite a story. Born in Colombia, she moved to Queens, New York in the mid-'70s and, along with her second husband, built up quite the drug ring. She was eventually indicted but escaped back to Colombia. A few years later she returned America, but this time in Miami, as so many cocaine hustlers tend to wind up, and was a major figure in the city's cocaine wars of the late '70s and '80s. In fact, at times she was winning the wars, often killing her competitors while evading their attempts at retaliation. She eventually wound up in jail, but still managed to run her drug empire from beyond bars.

Oh, she also killed at least one of three husbands. She was also openly bisexual.

You can see why there's such a race to put her tale on screen.

The irony however is that none of the three glamorous actresses attached to star as Blanco in the various projects actually look much like the real life one. Part of the allure of Blanco's infamy is that she looked rather much like she could be the mother of four next door. Well, if three of those four children wound up dead thank to the drug war she helped carry out.

Though, what's no odd is that so many films are in development. Competing interests in Hollywood have a tendency to pursue the same subject matter at the same time. That's the reason there's also multiple Zelda Fitzgerald projects in the works (one of which with Jennifer Lawrence attached) and multiple Janis Joplin biopics in various stages of development.

Lifetime has given the go-ahead to the original movie Cocaine Godmother starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and directed by Guillermo Navarro. Based on the life of Miami drug lord Griselda Blanco, Cocaine Godmother will go into production this year and premiere in 2018 on Lifetime.
Jen's version is probably planned to be filmed early 2018 that's the only time she'll be free to do it.
                                                  Hers is a Lifetime movie?

Well I hope Catherine's version end up being a mess. :coffee So far Jen's has the better team around it. A few years ago you'd think Catherine would have got the HBO one and Jen's the lifetime movie. O:)

Also Im' surprised that most article reporting it don't mention that Jen is also making one, only W mag did.
