So my guess is that only streams from the USA count.

1 point ~ 1 million audience impressions (airplay) ~ 1,000 downloads (sales) ~ 10,000 (?) streams (on-demand streaming)

Dance Again is available on Spotify.

Justin Bieber's Boyfriend was not available on Spotify last week. That's why it didn't debut at #1.

Now I understand why 'Dance again' had such a low debut! these new rules are BS!

The song had good digital sales as well as good airplay to debut in the top 15 -20, but the streaming messed up everything!

One question: this Spotify doesn't affect the digital downloads since you can hear all the music you want for free?? is like a library, you can go there and pick up any song you want!

Sean Parker Says iTunes is Slow and Spotify Will Overtake it in Two Years

During a panel discussion at SXSW for Downloaded, an upcoming VH1 documentary, Napster co-founder Sean Parker had some less than kind words for Apple's iTunes software, tellin the audience that Spotify will overtake it within two years.

Joined by his Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning and Downloaded director Alex Winter, Parker spoke frankly about his thoughts on the current state of the digital music industry. In his view, Spotify, the popular streaming service in which he invested $15 million, is doing the best job of putting money into record company coffers:

"Spotify is returning a HUGE amount of money [to the record labels]. If we continue growing at our current rate in terms of subscriptions and downloads, we’ll overtake iTunes in terms of contributions to the recorded music business in under two years.”

He didn't stop there. Parker then went on to say that he's surprised at how slow the iTunes Store is compared even to Napster:

"Even the iTunes store, to this day, is SO SLOW [compared to Napster]. I’m amazed. It’s like this embedded website within their client that when you click buy [makes spinning motion with his hands]"

Spotify, which was launched in 2008 in Sweden and made available in the U.S. in July of last year, has an estimated 13 million users worldwide with 2.5 million of them paying for a monthly subscription. For comparison purposes, as of October, 2011, 16 billion songs have been downloaded from Apple's iTunes Store, which was launched in April of 2003.

I thought the new Billboard rules would benefit us, but we are not even in the Top 50 of the On Demand Songs chart this week!!!

How can we promote this song on Spotify?

The new billboard rule is stupid. Why not count vevo views on YouTube?

And hopefully they will give us an iTunes banner/icon (album pre-orders, Spanish version of Dance Again, Remix EP) during the week of Jen's Idol performance. That would help a lot.

What's the big deal with Billboard?

Seriously, they are trying too hard, airplay, spotify... and no one knows what's coming next.

At the end of the day, this is just a game.

I just checked. There are no Jennifer Lopez songs on Rhapsody.

Only covers, tributes and her songs that appeared on other people's albums.

They were there last year, but I couldn't find them this year when I put the DA download links together, either.

I hate this new rule, Vevo views means people like the song while streaming on this like who the fuck does that. Only 13million people and they make this a huge part of charting now theres like 300mil+ people in US. This is just ridiculous.

US fans should just try their best and play it several times on spotify, it might be annoying but you can put it on mute.
