The American Idol round 2 of Portland auditions took place this past Saturday and Sunday bringing the full panel of judges, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and host Ryan Seacrest to the Rose City!
Ever since the official announcement that JLo would be back for Season 12 of Idol, I have been on the edge of my seat. Things couldn’t be more perfect, My Idol in My City? Are you kidding me? The opportunity was too great to miss! – Turns out, I along with 4 lucky fans would be invited to hang out on set and share a moment with Jennifer!!

The American Idol crew made their way to Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Thursday to continue the audition rounds! As we teased last week on the forum, we had an amazing opportunity for a few JLove?rs in the area. After a crazy couple of days with BBers scrambling to get their schedules in order, take days off, etc. we had a final group of three. Unfortunately, quite a few others couldn’t make it, but all BBers were there with us in spirit! All the details and photos are after the jump!

Today is Jennifer’s birthday!! Of course, we had to set up a special surprise for her to wish her an amazing birthday from all of her fans!
For the past 3 weeks, we have been raising money for the Boys & Girls Club of America, which is one of Jennifer’s favorite non-profits (she is even the Co-National Spokesperson!)! Fans were invited to participate and help us reach a goal of $1,500. JLOVE?Rs are amazing, though, because we surpassed that goal and raised a grand total of $1,855!!!! As most of you know, Jennifer’s birthday is coming up on July 24! We usually try to do something fun and different each year to honor Jennifer and give all the fans a chance to wish her a happy birthday. (You can read about past projects and Jennifer’s reaction to each here).
This year, we want to do something a little bit different, so we are collecting donations to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America! Jennifer is a Co-National Spokesperson for the Club and it’s one of the charities she supports.
Jennifer got her start performing at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx. Without the support of the club, she might not be the Jennifer we know and love today.

It’s hard to believe that almost a year ago, Jennifer’s name first came up as a possible judge on American Idol. Everyone had an opinion – was it the best thing for her career? Would she continue making music and movies? Fast forward to present time, and it looks like her risky move paid off in a huge way!
Since the season began, Jennifer and her fellow judges, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson have earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Defying expectations, the show’s total audience rose 4% over last year’s edition after several years of declines. Last night’s finale had 28.2 million viewers, a 4 million increase from last year, and the first time Idol showed year-to-year growth for the finale since 2008!
Part of the show’s rating increase is attributed to the new judges, which of course, includes Jennifer! Her interest and emotional attachment to the contestant’s was quickly evident when the season began. Idol was the perfect place for Jennifer to showcase her personality and show the world what we already know and love about her!
There was no shortage of hot topic moments – from the time she did the “dougie” on live TV to her hilarious facial expressions and her emotional involvement with the contestants. In addition, Jennifer’s honest and thoughtful critiques were highlights each week.
Besides her personality, the talk quickly turned to Jennifer’s beauty- in HD no less! Her style quickly became one of the focal points of the season, with everyone- from celebrities to viewers at home – weighing in on her ever-evolving looks.
We got the chance to ask the man responsible for Jennifer’s gorgeous locks, Lorenzo Martin, about his work with Jennifer! When asked if he felt any added pressure, he told us, “Definitely. With so many people tuning into Idol this season, and all the incredible press, the pressure was on. Thankfully, Jennifer has gorgeous hair, which makes my job easy.”
With over 20 million people watching, it must certainly be nerve-wracking for her and the other members of her Glam Team, which includes her stylists Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi, and her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, to help her look perfect every time! With that kind of pressure, we wondered how the entire look came together each night: “It’s a collaborative effort from the entire Glam Team and Jennifer,” Lorenzo told us. “She has great intuition for what looks good, and what compliments her wardrobe.”
Not content to remain behind the judging desk, Jennifer, ever the multi-tasker, also had two show-stopping performances on Idol. First up was her recent “On The Floor” performance:
Last night, she also danced for her “Papi” and performed a sexy dance routine with Marc Anthony!
We have thoroughly enjoyed watching Jennifer on TV twice a week!
Despite the rave reviews, Jennifer has yet to decide if she will be returning to Idol. She has a lot of options and a lot on her plate, but whatever she decides, I’m sure it will be incredibly entertaining!
Last Friday, we had the opportunity to interview Taj Stansberry, the director of Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor” video! The video has been a huge hit! Not only did 26.6 million viewers see it on American Idol (it was the most watched Thursday on any network in four years) but over 13 million viewers have watched the video on Vevo since Thursday’s premiere!
He had a lot to tell us about the process and the video itself. He shared so many great details that we couldn’t edit it down. So, here is our interview in its entirety. We hope you all enjoy it!
